Abstract

Rapid development in information and communication technologies has created a transformation in the economic and social life through changing the way the trade dealt. New technologies help to improve the efficiency of the economy, create new job opportunities, spread the technical progress and new ideas easily, establish the simultaneous communication among people and institutions in the different countries and regions. The goal of this study is, evaluating the present situation of Turkey's tourism sector and using information technologies in the sector, to form long-term competition strategies for the sector which has important potential. Furthermore, it is searched that, depending on the data of World Tourism Organization which states serious changes would occur in tourism sector by 2023, how Turkey that has to be prepared for a merciless competition in tourism immediately, would take advantage of using e-tourism strategy in global competition.
