Title
Discourse of War in Print Media
Abstract
This paper deals with an analysis of media discourse on war. It is based on an extensive research of reporting of British and Montenegrin dailies on NATO airstrikes on Yugoslavia in 1999. The analysis was based on Teun Van Dijk’s theory on news schemata and Fairclough’s approach to Critical Discourse Analysis. The paper will present selected examples from the British dailies the Guardian, the Independent and the Times to illustrate the organisational pattern of news and an interpretation based on critical discourse analysis approach.
