Title
A STUDY ON THE IDENTIFICATION OF THE READING STRATEGY TYPES USED BY STUDENTS
Abstract
This study is conducted in order to investigate the generic awareness of reading strategy use of students and state the types of reading strategies used by them while performing a reading task. The students responded to a 45-item scale that included three categories of reading strategies; before, during and after. The findings obtained in this study indicated that the overall usage-level of the designated reading strategies were at a medium frequency-level; therefore, it revealed that the students use the designated strategies but not necessarily enough. On the other hand, the overall frequency of before-reading strategy use was found to be highest among three categories, so it indicated that the students are generally conscious of their comprehension process and they are planned before performing a reading task.
