<dcterms:abstract>Nowadays English text books include so many visuals in them and it is an unquestionable fact that visuals are becoming an indispensible part of the language teaching process as they provide both the teachers and the learners with some opportunities. Hence this study aims to indicate the perceptions of the learners about the visuals existing in their English course books. This study includes 63 university students from prep classes and the data was gathered through a questionnaire. The findings show that most of the learners have a positive attitude towards the visuals in their text books. Keywords:Visuals, English text books, English language teaching</dcterms:abstract>

U slučaju zadiranja u tjelesni integritet djevojčica doista treba koristiti „težu“ terminologiju budući se radi o sakaćenju i povredi ljudskih prava. <dcterms:abstract>An increasing number of children around the world, including Bosnian children, are being educated in a second language (L2). This L2 learning in primary school settings raises interesting questions about developing L2 vocabulary. Investigating the nature of vocabulary knowledge in these L2 children is important particularly as they face the significant challenge of acquiring L2 vocabulary in order to handle school work. This is the case with the children who participated in this study. They attend the first grade at International Primary School in Sarajevo where key subjects are taught in English.</dcterms:abstract>

    <dcterms:title>VOCABULARY INSTRUCTION MODEL AS A FOUNDATION FOR READING ACADEMIC ARTICLES IN THE ISRAELI ACADEMIA</dcterms:title>
    <dcterms:abstract>A firm mastery of target language vocabulary is crucial for academic reading performance. Therefore, teachers should equip learners with tools that would help them understand and learn lexical items.To this end, we propose a graded instructional model, which combines strategies for decoding the meaning of novel words as well as learning and retaining them. In order to understand an unfamiliar word a student is encouraged to either guess it or consult a dictionary. Following lexical deciphering, the teacher assists the student in selecting the most frequent and useful words to be learnt. The learning process requires explicit focus on novel words. First, the learner copies the new word into his notebook alongside its dictionary definition and the context it was used in. Next, the student creates a keyword association which helps him retain the word. The learner then attempts to learn it using his preferred perceptual learning style. Since long-term retention of vocabulary requires multiple repetitions in varied contexts spaced at increasingly larger intervals, the teacher provides the learner with plentiful opportunities at novel vocabulary reinforcement. In addition, testing vocabulary progress guarantees further encounters with the target words. The graded vocabulary instruction model may be successfully integrated in versatile pedagogical frameworks aimed at lexical expansion.</dcterms:abstract>

    <dcterms:abstract>Key words: collocations, noun phrases, verbs, aquisition, language proficiency ABSTRACT The main aim of this paper is to improve EFL learners’ language proficiency by building up their mental lexicon. The English Language Skills course aims to integrate the fours learning skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) together, to raise students’ awareness of collocations and to advance their written English more effectively. This research study gives a special emphasis on classroom activities and strategies that assisted and facilitated the process of acquisition. The study was conducted over a period of one semester during the academic year 2012 and involving 22 participants. The learning outcome was measured based on a modified content analysis (Lewis, 2000). The participants involved had two exams: a midterm and a final one. The exam questions helped students understand that knowing a word definition is not enough in foreign language acquisition. In addition, the exam results showed that students became aware of the way the new vocabulary is used in L2. Therefore, introducing ‘collocations’ to first year English Department students at the South</dcterms:abstract>

    <dcterms:abstract>Smart home refers to the application of various technologies to control the home remotely or automatically. It refers to systems that control temperature, lighting, door locks, windows and many other appliances. The interaction with those devices and systems can be through smartphones, computers, control panels or even advanced technologies such as voice and gesture. Apart from improving and simplifying many everyday operations to ordinary people, such technologies can also be used to aid people with disabilities who find many everyday tasks hard or even impossible to perform. This study evaluates the efficiency and possibilities of using a voice activated smart home system as an aid for people with disabilities. <dcterms:title>Void Pointer: Motorized Radio Satellite Tracker Solution
</dcterms:title>
    <dcterms:abstract>There are many existing programs to receive and decode radio signals, others to process them (e.g. signals received from a weather satellite into an actual image), and other programs to control and manage necessary accessories (e.g. an antenna rotator). They are all typically unrelated, and function separately. There are some specialised programs, but they do not meet certain criteria and are not useful for general operation.
This project aims to design and implement an automated antenna rotator system capable of tracking satellites and facilitating radio communication. The system integrates a custom-built hardware platform with a software interface to: (1) automatically adjust the antennas direction based on the position of the ground station and a chosen satellite, (2) set the appropriate radio frequency and configure other parameters based on selected satellite, and (3) provide a user-friendly interface for satellite selection and real-time control. The project targets Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, such as weather satellites (e.g. NOAA, MetOp, etc.), with the potential to receive and decode signals like weather images. The system is intended to be modular; if certain features are not needed they do not break the rest of the system (e.g. for tracking celestial objects other than satellites, where decoding is not necessary).
The main purpose of this project is not to develop another universal weather satellite decoder with extra features, but a more specific and simplified system for amateur use.
