<dcterms:abstract>Welcome to the first issue of the Journal of Economic and Social Studies. The beginning of 2011 comes with enthusiasm and great motivation for initiating an academic, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing scholarly work in economics and related scientific areas. In this journal, we plan to publish conceptual and empirical papers that take an interdisciplinary perspective in the areas of economics, business administration, public administration, political studies, international relations, labor economics and industrial relations, econometry, sociology and psychology. As scientific inquiry advances, researchers in different scientific areas benefit from theories and concepts in other areas, which can bring a broader perpective to their explanations. As such, our journal will attempt to bring academics from various backgrounds to advance theories and offer solutions for society's problems.</dcterms:abstract>

Journal of Natural Sciences and Engineering (JONSAE) is a peer-reviewed biannual journal that aims at the publication and dissemination of original research articles on the latest developments in the fundamental theory, practice and application of engineering, science, and technology.

We provide a platform for researchers, academicians, professionals, practitioners, and students to impart and share knowledge in the form of high-quality empirical and theoretical research papers. The journal covers all areas of Genetics and Bioengineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Architecture, Applied Mathematics, Computer Sciences, and Civil Engineering.
In this issue, I would like to express my gratitude to our authors and manuscript reviewers for their unselfish effort. You have continued your commitment and diligence to the Journal in helping us to produce quality and meaningful content that has the opportunity to advance the field. All of us had personal and professional challenges due to the pandemic and yet despite this, we managed to produce quality content and improve JONSAE’s indexation and future perspectives in terms of its metrics and quality growth. Thank you all for being part of this wonderful academic endeavor. We have both original research and literature review articles published in this issue. Our readers can learn details about how data technology and engineering ventures can contribute to medicine in the form of predictions for depression and anxiety as well as how to use machine learning-based gene clustering in brain cancer classification. Also, you can find out what is the potential of biomaterial-based solutions in cancer research treatment and can homicides be solved using the classification method. In the end, you can read about a staple gene in pharmacogenomics research, CYP4F2*3, and the effect of its polymorphism on different traits, including optimum anticoagulation therapy administration based on the patient’s genetics.
In the end, we plan to build upon the excellent editorial infrastructure in the next years. In addition to managing the normal turnover of the Editorial Board members, we will seek to expand it by recruiting additional members who can provide expertise in areas that are not currently well represented. <dcterms:title>Journey as A Domain in Metaphorical Mappings in Eu</dcterms:title>
<dcterms:abstract>Key words: conceptual metaphor, metaphorical mappings, political discourse, conventionality of metaphors, metaphorical scenarios ABSTRACT This presentation will try to bring political discourse of EU to a closer inspection on frequency of metaphor usage, in particular the ones with journey as a domain. Since metaphors are considered to be mostly the part of literature, it is a general belief that they are not commonly used in politics or political discourse. Among so many metaphor constructions and conventionalized metaphor phrases, it is quite of an interest to see how often do we hear politicians use metaphors in their speeches. However, since politicians tend to get votes and support from the masses, they do use these oratorical ways of expressing their beliefs and as such they have to use phrases familiar to people. Exploring political speeches, online magazines and political journals, a substantial corpus of metaphors is collected and thus used to demonstrate the frequency of this part of speech in both English and Bosnian. Moreover, metaphors of journey of both languages fall under two categories, which are the following: vehicle specific and general walking journey scenario, which is thus proven that metaphors are conventionalized and used in everyday language. Through analysis of these findings, it is shown that general walking journey scenarios are much more standardized in language and it is not even considered to be unusual to find a metaphor in politics. On the other hand, vehicle specific journey metaphors have still a long way to go. Finally, the analysis of metaphors of journey will be thoroughly presented in this paper in order to demonstrate conventionality of metaphors in political discourse of EU in English and Bosnian.</dcterms:abstract>

<dcterms:abstract>Anahtar Kelimeler: Nevsal-i Millî, Edebiyat Yıllığı, Kadın Edebiyatı, Yeni Türk Edebiyatı Tarihi. ÖZET Nevsal-i Millî 1330-1914 yılında tek cilt hâlinde yayımlanmış bir yıllıktır. Bildiride söz konusu edilecek kadın edebiyatçılardan Nigâr Hanım’ı Yahya Kemal; İhsan Raif’i Rıza Tevfik’in kaleme almış olması Nevsal-i Millî’nin değerini artırmaktadır. Bu isimlerin yanısıra Yaşar Nezihe Hanım, Belkıs Şevket Hanım, Gülistan İsmet, Emine Semiye, Halide Edib eserde yer alan kadın yazarlarımızdır. Cenab Şehabeddin’in “Kadınlarımıza Dair”, Ahmed Refik’in “Osmanlı Tarihinde Kadınlar”, Müfid Ratib’in “Şekspir’in Kadınları”, Ruşen Zeki’nin “Bizde Hareket-i Nisvan” makaleleri çalışma içerisinde ele alınmıştır.
