ABSTRACT The use of renewable energy sources is encouraged to meet the rising energy demand. Monitoring of photovoltaic (PV) systems and gathering statistical data are important issues in renewable energy applications. This study presents the implementation of a PV system where the panel output data are gathered and transmitted through the wireless medium using Wi-Fi. This method allows remote monitoring of a PV system. The data about voltage, current, and power production can be collected and reported separately for both DC and AC units. The DC and mono-phase AC measurement values are transmitted via a Wi-Fi access point to the computer where the data are collected.]]></dcterms:abstract>

<dcterms:abstract><![CDATA[Keywords: Surge tanks, pumped storage HE plant, Tom’s criteria, resistance coefficient, hydro engineering power, silencers, hydro power, Euler method. ABSTRACT For countries and regions enriched with water surfaces such as rivers and lakes, the cheapest source of power is water. Hydro power is called also “pure power” as it has minor pollution effects on the environment and health if compared with other types of power sources. Surge tanks have important role in the functionality of HE plant as they balance the pressure variation in cases of sudden rise or decrease. They are a massive construction that can receive the water in several cases. The cost of these tanks varies according to several factors such as dimensions, construction and maintaining works and shape. This paper aims to compare the cost of several shapes and types of surge tank in the case of Pumped storage HE plant Vrilo by fixing the needed outcomes such as the maximum and minimum level of water needed for producing the expected energy, the location of tank and the materials used for it. This paper will also give some advices about choosing the type, shape and dimension for surge tanks while designing them.]]></dcterms:abstract>

<dcterms:abstract><![CDATA[Keywords: Earthquake, Proactive Crisis Management. ABSTRACT Earthquake is of the natural disasters that cause great destruction and loss of life in places where they occur. Turkey, a large deal of whose territory stretches on first-degree earthquake zone and on which a large number of earthquakes occurred in the past, is an earthquake country. May 17, 1999 Marmara Earthquake, which was felt in large part of the country in recent past, is the most painful experience. Unpredictable and unavoidable impacts of earthquakes urge all actors of crisis management to think strategically and make effective decisions. Crisis management is composed of a four-step process including pre-earthquake preparedness, first responders, recovery and reorganization. Reducing the loss of life and property depends on the pre-planning of an earthquake and making all necessary preparations. Considering all kinds of possibilities, planning and organization are carried out in this process which is described as proactive crisis management. Burdur, stretching on first-degree earthquake zone and having experienced great destructions in the past, is one of the provinces which must be constantly prepared to earthquakes. Different-scale-earthquakes in 1842, 1876, 1901, 1914, 1925, 1930, 1963, and 1971 are known to have occurred in the triangle of Burdur, Isparta and Dinar. The objective of this study is to examine the different aspects of earthquake preparation of general and local government agencies in Burdur. In this paper, it is aimed to scan the literature regarding the study and to conduct direct talks with senior administrators responsible for managing the earthquake crisis in the city.]]></dcterms:abstract>

But, finding an alternate source is not enough, due to the fact that the power source should be sustainable and feasible. To be able decide whether it is efficient or not, we need to be able to analyze production rate. That is why data monitoring is an important area for energy production. We are able to gather raw data from power generator infrastructures. But these data is only raw data. We need a visual and interpretable ways to analyze, to utilize and to predict the efficiency of production. This paper focused on data monitoring part of energy production which output by wind turbines. The main purpose of this work is to provide to convert raw data into more readable and more analyzable format. We have prepared Wind Data Analyzer to visualize data by using elasticity of OOP (object oriented programing) to wind turbine data.]]></dcterms:abstract>

ABSTRACT In order to close the food gap resulting from population growth, cheaper and more quality producible species gain importance in the world. Since tilapia has a lot of positive characteristics desired for culture, they are among the significant species and have a rising value. Tilapia is known to have about 100 species and its culture began in Africa and spread to many other countries. There may be some problems in tilapia culture including the tropical regions to which they are indigenous. Tilapia species are not found in Turkey’s natural waters but studies towards their culture began in 1970s. Although a lot of scientific research has been conducted, required levels have not been reached yet. In this study, information regarding the general characteristics of tilapia, reproduction biology, production techniques, and problems in aquaculture and their use in aquaponic system has been presented.]]></dcterms:abstract>

    <dcterms:title><![CDATA[IMPORTANCE OF PREBIOTICS IN AQUACULTURE]]></dcterms:title>
<dcterms:abstract><![CDATA[Keywords: Prebiotic, probiotic, aquaculture. ABSTRACT The aquaculture industry is one of the fastest growing animal husbandry industries in the world with its annual growth rate. However, several disease outbreaks are posing a problem to the development of this sector. These problems constitute the largest single cause of economic losses in aquaculture. Therefore, new methods are needed to overcome disease problems. In the last decades, many fish farmers have attempted to use food additives and antibiotics to cope with fish disease problem. However, the use of antibiotics in fish farming is restricted in many countries due to occurrence of antibiotic residues in aquaculture products that threat human health. Antibiotics also cause immune-saving effect in aquatic pathogenic bacteria. Therefore, several new environment-friendly preventive and prophylactic methods are being developed nowadays to control such diseases and to maintain a healthier microbial environment in aquaculture systems. One of the methods used are probiotic supplementation to the aquatic animal in order to manipulate the gut flora and to control the microbial activity. The probiotics are described as live microorganisms which have beneficial effects on the health and physiology of host organisms. Prebiotics are also defined as non-digestible materials which provide host isolation by inhibiting the activity of harmful pathogenic microorganisms in the environment as well as supporting the development of beneficial probiotic bacteria by dint of mechanisms of various actions in the environment. The studies of prebiotics in fish have mainly researched the effect on growth, feed conversion, gut microbiota and resistance against pathogenic bacteria. Considering these components, the results have been obtained from previous scientific studies were investigated, advantages and disadvantages have been highlighted in this study.]]></dcterms:abstract>

<dcterms:title><![CDATA[INVESTIGATION OF AGING TEST METHODS ON ADSS CABLES]]></dcterms:title>
<dcterms:abstract><![CDATA[Keywords:Dryband Arcing, ADSS Cable, Aging, Insulation material. ABSTRACT All dielectric self-supporting (ADSS) fiber optic cables have been installed in power transmission lines. As time passed, ADSS cable failures started to occur since ADSS cables, placed under transmission lines, have been subjected to a high electrical field. Dry band arcing is one of the electrical phenomena that causes most of these failures and it is a common problem in industry. In order to investigate the reasons of cable failures, several studies have been carried out and a new testing method was developed for the IEEE 1222 standard. This new method simulates the actual field conditions for ADSS cables, and at the same time, it determines the dry band arcing resistance. Rather than defining the insulation strength of the cable, the IEEE 1222 method decides the quality of the cable insulation material. In this study; two different dry band arcing test method is used to investigate the surface behavior of ADSS cables. At first cables were tested according to IEEE 1222 test standart then at the same laboratory conditions, ADSS cable samples studied for the first time under the sag conditions. The results taken from the experimental work were studied with weibull statistics. The reliability, unreliability failure rate and probability density functions (pdf), variations acquired and discussed for two different test set up. The statistical comparison gives us that the aging behavior of the ADSS cables is the same under different experimental conditions. ADSS optical cables have so far shown an acceptable performance on lines up to 150 kV. Nonetheless, failures have occurred with ADSS cables installed on lines with a higher voltage. These failures are caused by electrical phenomena, such as corona, sparking and dry band arcing, since the cables are exposed to the strong electrical field environment. The basic concept of the arc resistance test is that the energized cable is sprayed by salt water for few minutes. This produces conducting wet layer on the cable surface and initiate leakage current.]]></dcterms:abstract>
